A license plate recognition system (LPR/ANPR) is an automated vehicle access solution that detects vehicle plates from camera footage, converts the characters into text, and controls barriers, doors or alarm systems based on authorization status.

Does a license plate recognition system work at night and in the rain?
With the right camera, lens, IR illumination and mounting angle, it can operate at night and in adverse weather conditions. Performance should be verified during the site survey based on lighting, vehicle speed and plate angle.
Can one camera read two lanes?
This depends on lane width, vehicle angle and camera resolution. For critical entrances, a separate camera per lane gives more consistent results.
If the internet goes down, does the barrier keep working?
In architectures with local authorization lists and offline operation support, barrier access continues; records are synced to the central system once the connection is restored.
How should plate records be managed under Turkey's KVKK data protection law?
Purpose, retention period, access permissions and the privacy notice must be clearly defined; data should only be stored by authorized personnel for the required period.
